The Nissan NV200 van, the same model chosen to be New York’s Taxi of Tomorrow, was announced on Monday for service in London.
In its new livery, the NV200 seems instantly more dignified and solid than its yellow cousin. Call it a rolling testament to the power of black paint.

Kia experienced exceptional growth in the New York metropolitan area in 2011, with sales increasing 83 percent in 2011, according to Edmunds.com. Its Web site compared new-car registration data provided by Polk, the automotive forecasting company, from January through November 2010 with the same 11-month period in 2011. Kia’s performance made it the fastest-growing automotive brand in the metropolitan area among the 35 brands included in the Edmunds analysis.

After its debut at Pebble Beach last month, the Cadillac Ciel concept has been on a whistle-stop tour en route to the Frankfurt auto show, turning up in Michigan on Monday and New York on Thursday. The car was displayed on the rooftop of a gallery building here in Chelsea, against a backdrop of wooden water towers and blue September skies.
There is no shortage of emblematic American land yachts that the Ciel, which is a foot longer than a Cadillac CTS sedan, evokes. Take the Lincoln Continental of the early to mid-1960s, for example. Not only the car’s long, slab sides and sharp fender creases lend that impression, but the words of the executives who rolled the car out in California on Aug. 18.

Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) today unveiled its innovative industry-leading suite of SKYACTIV technologies at the New York International Auto Show and revealed the 40-mpg highway fuel economy of its face-lifted 2012 Mazda3 compact car, which made its U.S. debut at the show. Earlier in the week, MNAO also announced that the MINAGI Concept, which made its North American debut in New York, will be the basis of a production compact SUV model named Mazda CX-5.
SKYACTIV, which is a suite of all-new technologies that includes completely redesigned, highly efficient internal combustion gasoline and diesel engines, manual and automatic transmissions, and an advanced body and chassis, will be the core of Mazda’s future product line.
