J.D. Power: Vehicle Dependability Is at a High
The dependability of new cars is higher than ever, according to the 2012 Vehicle Dependability Study released today by J.D. Power & Associates.
Lexus is back on top after losing the distinction to other automakers for three years. In 2009, after leading all brands for 14 consecutive years, Toyota’s luxury subsidiary was dethroned by Buick and Jaguar. Porsche ranked highest in 2010 and Lincoln topped the list last year.

Lincoln Tops J.D. Power Dependability Survey
Lincoln knocked Porsche off its perch as the most dependable of 34 brands in the 2011 J. D. Power and Associates Vehicle Dependability Study. It was the first time Lincoln has topped the list, which has been published annually since 1990.
This year’s study was based on responses of almost 44,000 owners of 2008 model vehicles. The survey covers 202 different problem areas that may occur within eight major vehicle categories, like engine and transmission, seats and exterior. The rankings then are determined by the number of problems reported per 100 vehicles.
