With the technology by BMW Efficient Dynamics, BMW continues to set standards where dynamics and efficiency are concerned. The BMW ActiveHybrid models are excellent examples of this: intelligent energy management guarantees the perfect interaction of combustion engine and electrical motor.
Details about the hybrid Active Tourer are somewhat sketchy at the moment, but BMW indicated its likely direction for the electrified hatchback in the earlier Concept Active Tourer. It used a hybridized 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine coupled with an electric motor with a total system output of 190 horsepower and 147 pound-feet of torque. The company claimed that it had a roughly 19-mile electric range and could hit 62 miles per hour in under 8 seconds. However, the Bavarian automaker hasn’t said yet whether this power-train would be used in the production version.
Comfort zone is the interior of it with following features:
- Excellent Ambience
- Good Hybrid display
- Attractive Rear-seat entertainment
- Amazing Bang & Olufsen sound system
- Beautiful Colors and materials
Exclusive appearance with an electrifying character: the new Adaptive LED Headlights unite a striking form with dynamic function – new kidney grille slats and chrome accents on the front apron further enhance the distinctive impression, with the large air inlets reinforcing the muscular overall effect.
The excellent quality of design, materials and finishing create a comfortable ambience that offers plenty of scope to meet the highest of aspirations.
The BMW ActiveHybrid is an experience for all the senses: the interior inspires with a generous feeling of spaciousness, exclusive quality, precision down to the finest detail and first-class functionality. Typically BMW, the cockpit is systematically directed towards the driver, with instrument gauges and Control Display offering customized hybrid information. Ambient light immerses the vehicle interior in one of two atmospheric colours while the Bang & Olufsen high-end Surround Sound system fills the perfectly acoustically insulated compartment with a rich, crystal-clear tone.
The electric motor and the combustion engine of the BMW ActiveHybrid 7 work in perfect union – supported by a lithium-ion high-performance battery, coordinated by an intelligent hybrid system. The result: maximum efficiency with maximum dynamics.
The 8-speed Steptronic transmission allows the driver a significantly higher level of gear-changing and driving comfort thanks to the more finely graduated gear ratios and minimised rev intervals. This combines maximum comfort with the sensation of dynamics and reduced fuel consumption.
The internal combustion Series Active Tourer is rumored to come to the US in 2015. Given the nearly complete look of the test car, the hybrid might not be too far behind.
