After the extraordinary sales performance the new Alfa Romeo Giulia managed to achieve in its first year of marketing, the Italian brand already has its new and vehicle ready. The surprising face is that it’s the the first SUV in Alfa Romeo’s history!
Presented within the event of the Los Angeles Auto Show, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio promises great emotions following the perfect formula of the Giulia, but by combining these concepts in a 4.7-meter-long SUV.
The Stelvio is a spectacular car from any angle. Design, performance and technology come together in a car whose name evokes great deeds along the most famous mountain pass in Italy. Angled with seductive curves and a high profile, the Stelvio is one of the most promising cars we’ve seen in a while.
Although with SUV measures and as such intended to operate in every field with sufficient ease, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio keeps intact the performance that makes cars made by the renowned brand enjoyable to drive. This model is perfect for driving comfortably on fast tracks, but it’s also been prepared to handle the mountain roads as if they were its natural habitat.
What is hidden inside the Alfa Romeo Stelvio?
After the impressive success of the Giulia, the Italian firm has relied on its risky proposal of the rear-wheel drive saloon, also giving the Stelvio a range of powerful engines including the impressive V6 2.9 liters biturbo with 510 hp and 600 Nm. This Ferrari-origin engine will be responsible for converting the exclusive Stelvio Quadrifoglio Verde version into one of the most powerful SUVs on the market. The range of engines will also include a 2.0 gasoline engine Turbo with 280 hp.
For the US market the Stelvio will be offered only attached to a Q4 all-wheel drive and 8-speed automatic transmission, while for Europe this information has yet to be confirmed.
At the technological level Alfa Romeo has stated that the Stelvio is its greatest exponent in terms of systems of assistance to the driving offering new technical solutions. The chassis, which has many parts in aluminum for optimum weight distribution, is equipped with standard equipment including the Alfa DNA Pro driving selector, the Alfa Chassis Domain Control unit or numerous contents developed in collaboration with Magneti Marelli.
Other extra options reinforce the Stelvio’s definition as a premium vehicle, such as the torque-sharing vectoring function, adaptive damping, carboceramic brake discs and a mechanical self-locking differential.
In addition, the interior of the car offers all the space needed for five adults to be comfortably accommodated and has the new 8.8 inch Connect 3D Nav infotainment system that guarantees full connectivity with the smartphone.
In short, the information on the new Alfa Romeo Stelvio could not be more positive. All the virtues of the successful Giulia are exported to the segment of compact SUVs to give this incredible result called Stelvio. It will definitely be one of the star cars next year.
